THE GODLY GENERATION

Last week, the January 11th, 2015 edition of the Guardian Newspaper featured a picture of Madam Hilda Adefarasin and her family (view picture here)  and it got me thinking. Raising such a generation of great men and women who have positively affected lives and future generations did not come easy. I can bet this result came from years of prayers and scriptural declaration over her family and the future generation; also from a deliberate thought out plan for raising her kids. I do not have the honour of personally interviewing this great woman but I can surmise that Madam Hilda Adefarasin is a praying mother.

Inspired by the generation this woman has created, I now clearly understand and even visualize what the meaning of the quote – “every child is a generation, one raised wrongly is a generation destroyed and one raised right is a generation preserved” – Unknown. I am motivated to consciously and prayerfully guide ‘my generation’ in the right path; I can only visualize how they will turn out come the in next 50years (God willing). I am leaving nothing to chance!

Raising great and godly children is a communal effort. We might not live in that close knitted communal setting (as it were back in the days) where everyone played a role in openly correcting and instilling good morals and discipline in a child. Good ideas and experiences shared by mothers through various means still makes raising children through communal effort possible. So today, I want to share with my online mom’s community the baby steps I have been taking over the last few years towards raising a great generation of amazing men and women. Do feel free to share your great ideas and experiences too!
We daily speak God’s promises over our children and teach them to declare same. We make these scriptural confession during our 10 minutes’ drive to school. You can incorporate same into your child’s bedtime routine or any other time frame that will suit your schedule. Being consistent is key. It should become a part of your daily routine and after about 3 months, your smart kid should know most of these lines by heart. (You can leave out the bible verses. E.g Psalm 23:1).

Below is a sample of the confession

Today is  (day of the week)
I am happy, the joy of the lord is my strength (Neh 8 v 10)
I grow in wisdom, statue and favour with God and Man (Luke 2 v 40).
I am taught of God, great is my peace – Isa. 54 v 13.
I am for signs and for wonders on the face of the earth – Isa. 8 v 18.
God is my strength, God is my salvation, God is the lifter of my head. (Ps 9 v 3).
I will flourish like a palm tree and grow strong like a cedar of Lebanon and dwell in the house of the lord forever- (Ps 92 v 12).
My body and soul may fail me but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever (Ps 73 v 26).

God’s purpose is fulfilled in me.
I am surrounded by positive influence, what God will do in this generation, He will do through me.
I am a blessing to my family, friends and generation.
My mother will not weep over me but I will be a delight to her soul, I will not die but live and declare the works of God (Ps 118 v 17).
I am healthy and full of strength.
The life and the spirit of God dwells in me (John 1 v 4)
I am 10 times better than my contemporaries. Dan 1 v 20. (you can add some more)

For 0 -1 year – declare the words over them, for 2-7years, have them repeat after you. For 8 – 10years, print the words on a card and get them to confess as you listen. For 11 and above – discuss the importance of speaking words over their lives and encourage them to do this constantly.
The world came into existence by the spoken Word, let’s train our children and the coming generations to create and take charge of their world by declaring and calling things into existence.

Welcome to greatness!

True words dear!!! i will add teaching them to pray. goes a very long way too.

I will use this medium to speak to the Fathers, dont get too busy to set the example as the priest over your house. Let the Children see you do it they emulate, learn and grow by examples.

    God bless.
