The excited voice of my girls ushered me into the house with shouts of – “Mummy! good news!! good news!!!”
I smiled and look around greatly anticipating to see the good news or what it was all about.
“Mummy Seddy pooed in his potty today” my first daughter said, smiling and clapping her hands in excitement, while my 6 year old jumped all over the sofa in excitement. I smiled as I walked toward the young dude that had achieved such feat! Lol!
And so my elder daughter proceeded to relay in sequence of the events (oh yeah) culminating in my 20 months old finally delivering his first poo into his beautiful potty after many weeks of relentless efforts. The excitement this evening was just contagious, my little man was so oblivious of the celebration around him, so I squat and told him he did great while holding up my hand up for a ‘hi five’ pat, this he returned with vigour and excitement.
Isn’t it amazing the growth milestones mothers celebrate? It is so amusing to think or even discuss on some. Lol.
Yesterday’s after-work banter with my girls began as soon as the front door opened and continued after a hurried salutation of “mummy welcome” was thrown at me. Lol! The events of the day was too good to be true, Seddy using his potty was the hottest news on the grill. This news literally made their day and mine too; so I patiently listened to the different version of the same ‘poo story’. I just adore the excitement this crew exude!
Potty-training my toddler had almost become a herculean task. Our goal of getting him potty -trained before his second birthday almost looked bleak as my toddler saw his beautiful potty as a toy to push around and not for potty time. He would push or carry it around the house and at other times filled it up with clothes, slippers, keys, crayon and even my phone. Whatever can fit into it with the lid firmly shut became a target!
In this journey towards potty training Seddy, there are times he would just sit on the potty for a long time and dose off without doing the main ‘thing’ while at other times he will just cry out to be freed (from sitting) when the major ‘thing’ is about to happen.

(Iyoho ooo, mbanu, abaasi akan’ ooo lol, we do not plan to use diapers that long oooo 😌😊)
