THE SIMPLE JOYS OF LIFE

I was cornered into reading the kid’s devotional with my 4 years old son this morning and I enjoyed the experience!

With the second term holidays in full swing, the girls are savoring the long and uninterrupted morning sleep; and waking up late is gradually becoming the norm. Seddie being an early riser is mostly on the lookout for activities to keep him engaged till the sisters’ are awake.

In his bid to stay engaged this morning, he suggested ‘abi!’ demanded we read from their devotional, a routine we have encouraged them to imbibe. Truthfully, I was a bit reluctant, seeing that it will interrupt my already planned morning. However, I gave in to his request, his persistence paid off.

Obedience was the topic for the day, and I explained the theme to him with the illustrations used. I asked him the questions that followed the text and he answered intelligently to my surprise!

Why do I keep forgetting that he is a grown ‘baby’ … something about being the first from the rear I guess, lol!

We finished just before my first meeting for the day commenced, but I was so glad that he insisted we shared the time. The memory of our conversation and his excitement stayed with me all day and made me feel good.

The joys of life are in the little things and not in the spectacular, it is in the acts that are minute and inexpensive. They are found in those moments we often pass off as unnecessary distractions.

In the things or acts that we do not have to struggle or strive to achieve lies countless ways, you can appreciate the ‘simple joys of life’ God has freely given us.

What ‘joys of life’ have you discovered today?

I leave you with this song – ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong;

I see trees so green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you.
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
I see skies so blue and clouds so white.
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by.
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do.
They’re really saying I love you.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow.
They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know.
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself what a wonderful world.
