Deep question huh?
Pause and think!
The heading above is one I have pondered upon frequently
in the last one month. This thought gnaws at my heart every time I face a challenge (in a fix)
and desperately need someone to listen without judging,
the ‘someone’ that isn’t my hubby because I assume he needs a break from my
talks Lol! And so my recent search through my phone contact for that ‘saving’
number cum non-judgmental listening ear came out blank and I was
appalled! *shaking my head.

My childhood friend Simi,
seem so far off to call on as she is often caught up in series of meetings that
lasts ‘forever’. The life of an
investment banker! I love her so. I
thought of my bestie Tiana and I figured it was too early in the day to call on
a mother of 4 who will probably be swamped with mother duties. Who else??? I said to myself as I scrolled back and
forth the list of contacts on my phone. The issue I desperately wanted to voice
out was too personal to discuss with just anyone and so I sulked till I
remembered I could speak to my sister about it.

I called her up and poured my heart all out! I did
feel a lot lighter and better. After my venting my frustration at a seemingly
impossible situation, she quietly reminded me of a life lesson I shared with
her a long time ago; my sister repeated the same advice word for word.

I quietly said ‘thank you‘.
In the midst of the frustrating event I had forgotten
this hallowed truth, all I desired to do was wail. Forgive my fragility, I am
only human!

This is a comforting fact and I write to remind us all
that we are never without a FRIEND!

In the mist of our ‘storms’ we often forget the truth
that we have a friend in God, one who is always
available. Never constrained by time or schedule, a 24/7 friend
who can auto-administer the universe while paying special attention
to you and I.

Allow this truth sink! Truth comes with a certain
excitement! I am excited as I reflect and write on this!!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends and I have great
ones too, however there is a limit to which any relationship can meet our many
expectations. So it is very comforting to know that you and
I are never without a friend;
a reality I pray we remember when the many episodes of life happen.
